The Frontline Managers Toolbox should be the place all future frontline leaders start. How can anyone manage a department if they aren’t organized about it. Can anyone really just wing it and deliver quality results that your team will respect and the customers rely on? Consistently? Can anyone?

Surely, anyone can wing it for a day or two, but what about the crew that works with them day in and day out? Don’t guess, just ask them. They’ll tell you everything you want to know. The real problem is nobody is asking them what the REAL problems are. Everyone is so busy chasing the smoke that nobody is even worried about the fire. How do you think that’s going to work out?

Getting a good workflow down so you see everything, and fix the things that will frustrate lesser managers. How many times a day do people distract you by coming up to you and asking for things? Supplies from a closet? Beer from the cooler, more cups and silverware, ingredients for that new menu item, people calling in sick, customer complaints, equipment issues. . . All day long we get distracted by emergencies real and fabricated, and if some companies have 200 employees and others have 3, so how do we keep track of all the many details and in all their possible permutation?

You are going to have to make the workflow yourself. You are the one who knows what is going to be asked of you, and if you don’t, I’m sure the first few months will show you all you need to see to figure one out with the help of “Management 101” in the Frontline Leadership Training podcast website and on youtube. With these simple 4 step framework you can create a workflow that gets you and your team the results you were hired for and your team will love you for.
